Advanced Junior Clinic
An important aspect of Golf Queensland's development program is the Advanced Junior Training Clinic. Over the last 30 - 40 years almost all of Queensland's best male players have begun their journey into elite golf via this clinic, which has always been held in January in conjunction with the Queensland Boy's & Girl's Amateur Championship at Indooroopilly Golf Club.
Although this program has only been available to boys in the past, from 2009 onwards the program has included both boys and girls.
The Schedule
Day 1 - After a welcome at Union College, the players (both boys and girls) will be taken to Indooroopilly Golf Club for a practice round in preparation for the Queensland Boys and Girls Amateur Championship.
Days 2- 5 The participants play over the next 4 days contesting the Queensland Boy's or Girls Amateur Championship.
Days 6- 8 The Clinic then moves out to Golf Queensland's state of the art, State Training Facility at Brookwater Golf Club where Golf Queensland's "AAA" rated PGA professional coaches will provide 3 days of intensive coaching on every aspect of each player's game.
Nightime Sessions
While the boys and girls will play golf during the day, they will also spend each night learning about various aspects of the golf industry. Topics for night sessions include: The Rules of Golf, pathways to becoming a professional golfer, Trivia night, Strength and Conditioning for Golf and more.
Accommodation and Meals
All participants will be accommodated at Union College-St Lucia for the week with most meals provided. Note - Players will have to buy their own lunch during the Championship.
It's a great opportunity for any aspiring young golfer, and with limited places, get your entry form in as soon as possible.
