The Queensland Men’s and Women’s Foursomes Championships was once again strongly supported with a large field of nearly 170 competitors teeing off at Wynnum Golf Club on Sunday.
State representatives Darcy Habgood (Toowoomba) and Lisa Edgar (Emerald Lakes) claimed their maiden Queensland Women's Foursomes Championship with impressive rounds of 74-72, for a total of 146.
Consistent 75s for Momo Sugiyama (RACV Royal Pines) and Lion Higo (Emerald Lakes) earned them runner-up spot, four-shots adrift from the winners.
Rediscovering the form that won them the 2015 title, Matt Pitty (Laidley) and Ben Stieler (Brookwater) claimed the 2017 edition of the Queensland Men's Foursomes Championship, with rounds of 67-73.
The consistency of Royal Queensland pair Chris Harrop and Kelvin Willis, was enough to earn them second place recording rounds of 72-71.
The respective Queensland Men's and Women's Nett Foursomes winners were Anthony Cuthbert (Kilcoy) and Andrew Johnstone (Dalby), and Jo Malone (Bribie Island) and Tam Reid (Peregian).
Wynnum Golf Club is to be applauded for the work that has gone into having the course ready for tournament play after a week of downpours. In its fifth year of hosting, players greatly enjoyed the venue with 62 male partners and 21 female partners entered.
