I'm not good enough to join a club.
Not true. Everyone starts their golfing journey somewhere. Clubs are set up well to help new members and most golfers like to help new people learn about the game and improve along the way. Besides the easiest way to improve is to practice and play and being a club member will give you great access to a course and practice facilities.
Golf is an expensive sport
Not true. There are many very affordable options to play golf. A number of clubs have no joining fee and very modest annual fees. There are also a number of options to purchase inexpensive equipment to get you started.
Not many women play golf
Not true. There are over 15,000 female club members in Queensland alone and most clubs are working hard to get more playing the game.
Most clubs have waiting lists
Not true. Almost no clubs in Queensland currently have waiting lists.
I have to know a member to join a club.
Most clubs don't have this requirement. Clubs generally are looking for new members and will help guide people through the application process.
Clubs don't cater for juniors.
Not true. Each club is different, but many clubs have excellent junior programs. Golf clubs are a healthy, safe and fun environment for children where they learn many skills that will help them throughout their life.
