Flood Grant Opportunities

The Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing recently released a funding program available to eligible organisations in relation to damage caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald and associated flooding and rainfall. Golf Queensland can assist with your club's application through the Golf Queensland Grants Writing Assistance Program. See the end of this email for more information.
The Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program supports not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations with relief efforts to re-establish their facilities and activities following natural disasters. This program provides funding to eligible organisations within areas declared under the Queensland Government Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
What assistance is available?
The program provides funding of up to $25,000 for eligible organisations in relation to damage caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald and associated rainfall and flooding.
Group A
Eligible sport and recreation organisations in the local government areas below can request funding to:
- replace sport and recreation playing and training equipment (excluding office and canteen equipment); and/or
- repair/restore damage to sport and recreation infrastructure; and/or
- mitigate the effect of future damage due to a similar natural disaster event, to damaged sport and recreation infrastructure.
Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gympie, Lockyer Valley and North Burnett and any other Local Government Area declared as a Category C area under the NDRRA.
Funding of up to $25,000 is also administered by the Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority (QRAA) for Category C assistance to support not-for-profit organisations in the above local government areas, and additional areas that may be able to receive this assistance. Grants are available from QRAA in two tiers, with up to $5,000 for early immediate recovery and up to $20,000 to pay for repairs from direct flood damage. This funding is available to assist with replacing office and canteen equipment. Concessional loans are also available from QRAA. Group B
Eligible sport and recreation organisations in the local government areas below can request funding to:
- replace equipment and operational items (including office and canteen equipment); and/or
- repair/restore damage to sport and recreation infrastructure; and /or
- mitigate the effect of future damage due to a similar natural disaster event, to damaged sport and recreation infrastructure.
Aurukun, Banana, Brisbane, Burdekin, Burke, Cairns, Carpentaria, Cassowary Coast, Central Highlands, Cherbourg, Cloncurry, Cook, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Goondiwindi, Hinchinbrook, Hope Vale, Ipswich, Isaac, Kowanyama, Lockhart River, Logan, Mackay, Mapoon, McKinlay, Moreton Bay, Mornington, Napranum, Northern Peninsula Area, Palm Island, Pompuraaw, Redland, Rockhampton, Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast, Tablelands, Toowoomba, Torres, Torres Strait Islands, Western Downs, Whitsunday, Wujal Wujal and Yarrabah (excluding any local government area declared as a Category C area under the NDRRA).

11 February 2013 - Applications open
10 May 2013 - Applications close
15 November 2013 - Completion of program and final acquittal

Golf Queensland, with the assistance of Red Tape Busters, offers a Grant Writing Assistance Program. If your Club needs assistance with grant writing you will need to complete the Expression of Interest Form on the Golf Queensland website www.golfqueensland.org.au.
Please ensure you include photos of the damage. This will assist Red Tape Busters in building your application.

The Federal Government announced yesterday that there will be clean-up and recovery grants of up to $25,000 available for small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations in areas severely affected by flooding in Queensland. There are also concessional loans available through the QRAA.
